The Excel + PlanSwift Quantity Surveying program is designed for civil engineering students, diploma holders, site engineers, quantity surveyors, and construction professionals who want to build expertise in quantity estimation and cost management. This comprehensive course combines the power of Microsoft Excel and PlanSwift, two of the most widely used tools in the construction industry. Learners gain practical knowledge in quantity take-off, Bill of Quantities (BOQ) preparation, rate analysis, material estimation, billing, and project cost control through real-time construction projects. By the end of the training, participants will be capable of handling complete quantity surveying tasks for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
The course begins with a detailed understanding of quantity surveying and its importance in the construction industry. Learners explore the responsibilities of a quantity surveyor, construction project workflow, and the interpretation of architectural, structural, and MEP drawings. This section builds a strong foundation for understanding how quantities are measured and estimated from engineering drawings.

Students develop essential Microsoft Excel skills required for quantity surveying and construction estimation. They learn worksheet management, data organization, formatting techniques, mathematical operations, and commonly used Excel functions and formulas. These skills help improve productivity, reduce manual calculations, and maintain accurate project documentation.
This section focuses on advanced Excel techniques used in professional quantity surveying. Learners create dynamic estimation sheets, prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), automate calculations using advanced formulas, organize project data, and generate professional cost reports. The training also covers techniques for improving accuracy and minimizing estimation errors.
Students are introduced to the PlanSwift software, one of the leading digital quantity take-off tools used in the construction industry. They learn software installation, project setup, interface navigation, calibration methods, drawing imports, and workspace management. This section provides the knowledge required to efficiently perform digital quantity estimation.
Learners gain practical experience in performing digital quantity take-offs directly from construction drawings. They learn how to measure walls, slabs, beams, columns, doors, windows, roofing systems, and other building components accurately using PlanSwift. This process significantly reduces manual effort while improving speed and accuracy in project estimation.
This section teaches learners how to calculate construction quantities such as areas, lengths, volumes, and counts using PlanSwift. Students understand measurement techniques for concrete, masonry, plastering, flooring, painting, excavation, reinforcement, piping, and various civil engineering works while maintaining industry-standard measurement practices.
Students learn how to estimate the quantities of construction materials required for different building activities. The training covers the calculation of cement, steel, sand, aggregates, bricks, blocks, tiles, paint, finishing materials, and other construction resources. Learners also understand methods for reducing material wastage and improving project planning.
Accurate project costing is one of the most important responsibilities of a quantity surveyor. This section explains how to prepare cost estimates by calculating material costs, labor expenses, equipment charges, overhead costs, and profit margins. Learners also understand rate analysis techniques that help prepare competitive and realistic project budgets.
This section focuses on preparing professional billing documents and measurement sheets used throughout construction projects. Students learn how to generate contractor bills, client billing statements, work progress reports, quantity summaries, and payment documentation while maintaining complete accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Learners understand the complete tendering process and the preparation of professional Bills of Quantities (BOQ) used in construction bidding. The training covers item descriptions, quantity schedules, pricing formats, tender documentation, and estimation standards followed in the construction industry, enabling participants to prepare accurate tender submissions.
The course provides hands-on experience through real residential and commercial construction projects. Students perform quantity take-offs, prepare BOQs, estimate project costs, review engineering drawings, and complete practical assignments using both Microsoft Excel and PlanSwift. This practical exposure helps learners develop confidence and industry-ready technical skills.
The training concludes with a comprehensive industry-based project where learners apply all the concepts covered throughout the course. Students prepare complete estimation reports, quantity calculations, BOQs, billing documents, and project cost summaries. They also receive interview preparation, resume guidance, and portfolio development support to improve their career opportunities in the construction industry.
After successfully completing this training, learners can pursue rewarding careers as Quantity Surveyor, Estimation Engineer, Billing Engineer, Cost Control Engineer, Planning Engineer, and Civil Project Engineer. Career opportunities are available in construction companies, infrastructure firms, real estate developers, engineering consultancies, project management organizations, and international quantity surveying companies.
The training program focuses on practical learning through live construction projects and real engineering drawings. Participants receive hands-on experience using Microsoft Excel and PlanSwift under the guidance of experienced industry professionals. The course includes practical assignments, industry-standard estimation methods, interview preparation, placement assistance, career guidance, and a Course Completion Certificate, helping learners become job-ready quantity surveying professionals.
